PVO Ion Mass Spectrometer low-resolution data are stored in single-orbit ASCII files. These files can be converted to UADS-compliant file structures by concatenation of the UADS_HDR.TXT file with an individual data file (header first!). All of the data files have the same internal structure, which is described by the single format file OIMSDATA.FMT. File structure characteristics which may vary from file to file (# of records, start/stop time, etc.) are described in the individual PDS label files. /-------------------------\ | D A T A | \-------------------------/ Columns in all data files: ===================================================== name type description ----------------------------------------------------- PVO TIME int Date and time in format YYDOY FSEC, where YY is the year, DOY is the day-of-year & FSEC is the decimal second-of-day ORBIT integer PVO orbit number PERISECS float Seconds after periapsis (negative before periapsis) DEN_1 integer Number density of 1 AMU particles DEN_2 integer Number density of 2 AMU particles DEN_4 integer Number density of 4 AMU particles DEN_8 integer Number density of 8 AMU particles DEN_12 integer Number density of 12 AMU particles DEN_14 integer Number density of 14 AMU particles DEN_16 integer Number density of 16 AMU particles DEN_18 integer Number density of 18 AMU particles DEN_28 integer Number density of 28 AMU particles DEN_30 integer Number density of 30 AMU particles DEN_32 integer Number density of 32 AMU particles DEN_44 integer Number density of 44 AMU particles Any number density data item whose value equals -999999 is a missing data value. Missing data values in the seconds-after-periapsis column are indicated by the value -9999.999. Data Files (.TAB extension) The high-resolution data files on this disk are ASCII table files, each having 15 columns and record length 130 bytes. Information about the individual files (number of records, start and stop times, etc.) can be obtained from the PDS label file accompanying each *.TAB file. This label file has the same filename as the data file but with .TAB replaced by .LBL.
