Non-Standard Practices
The PDS standards do not specify where to store the required MD5 checksum
file for a volume. We have placed it in the root directory of the volume
with the file name "CHECKSUMS.TXT". This may be considered invalid by some
verifiers.
Users are encouraged to provide comments back to the Planetary Plasma
Interactions (PPI) Node of the PDS if errors or omissions are found
either in data or in documentation. Please send comments by e-mail or

Cumulative errata for this volume:
This file, ERRATA.TXT, contains release notes and errata concerning the
MESSENGER EPPS DDR archive.
During the course of the MESSENGER mission the EPPS science team may update
previously released data products or documentation; for example, updates may
occur due to changes in calibration data or procedures. Updates will be
reported in this file.
Section A of this file contains an entry for each MESSENGER release with
general information about the contents of the release, in order from newest
to oldest. Updates to previously released files are reported in these
entries, along with any known errata.
Section B of this file contains general notes, if any, concerning the archive
as a whole.

This is the final release for this volume which includes a complete
redelivery of all reduced data products. These have been reprocessed
using the final SPICE parameters, all final calibrations and corrections,
as applicable with the following exceptions:
1) FIPS PCHANG, ERPCHANG, ESPEC, FLUXMAP, NOBS, NTP, and ROTMSO advanced
products have been regenerated in the orbital period, i.e. Mar 23, 2011
through Mar 17, 2014. This delivery also includes these products in the new
data period, i.e. from Mar 18, 2014 through Apr 30, 2015 (EOO).
PRODUCT_VERSION_ID has been increamented by 1 for the regenerated products
(Mar 23, 2011 through Mar 17, 2014), set to "V01" for products in the new
data period.
2) There are 3 FIPS ROTMSO DDR products that are new:

FIPS_ROTMSO_2008280_DDR
FIPS_ROTMSO_2009272_DDR
This is due to the delivery of FIPS Rotation Matrices products for the orbital
period and the 3 flyby days (14 Jan 2008, 06 Oct 2008, 29 Sep 2009).
These products have PRODUCT_VERSION_ID = "V01".
3) There are 1883 FIPS DDR products that are new. These products are being
released now as the spatial domain over which these products are delivered
has been greatly extended. Previously, delivery of these products was only
for orbits that were within about 4 hrs local time of a noon-midnight orbit.
Now, data is delivered from every magnetosphere crossing.
These products have all PRODUCT_VERSION_ID = "V01".
4) There are 13 FIPS DDR products that have been removed from the archive due
to more rigorous quality checking:

PRODUCT TYPES UPDATED FOR THIS ARCHIVE: EPPS DDR
This release includes the following updates and product redeliveries:
1) Full redelivery of the FIPS DDR products (except for FIPS_ARRDIR products
that are being superseded) due to the new FIPS calibration introduced in
release 12 CDR's and improvements made to the SEP filtering procedure to
reduce the orbits with SEP-contminated data. The delivery of these products
cover:
FIPS_ESPEC from 2011-03-26 through 2013-03-17
FIPS_NOBS from 2011-03-23 through 2013-03-17
FIPS_NTP from 2011-03-26 through 2013-03-17
FIPS_PCHANG from 2011-03-26 through 2013-03-17
2) New products: FIPS_FLUXMAP (replacing FIPS_ARRDIR as it is a more useful
representation of plasma behavior), FIPS_ERPCHANG (a 2-D pitch angle
product), and FIPS_ROTMSO (a viewing normalization product). The initial
delivery of these products covers:
FIPS_FLUXMAP from 2011-03-26 through 2014-03-17
FIPS_ERPCHANG from 2011-03-26 through 2014-03-17
FIPS_ROTMSO from 2011-03-23 through 2014-03-17
3) Due to the retirement of the FIPS_ARRDIR product with this release, the
data set version is updated to 2.0 and the DATA_SET_ID is updated to
MESS-E/V/H/SW-EPPS-3-FIPS-DDR-V2.0. Version 2.0 of this archive fully
supersedes Version 1.0.
Gaps noted in this archive are appropriate and fall into two categories:
1) Small periods where there is no EDR data
2) Larger periods where the regions of interest were not observed
Please see the EPPS_DDR_SIS for additional details on new products.
Changes in relevant documents:
Modified the EDR SIS document "EPPS_EDR_SIS" to remove reference to unused
.CSV files and change occurrences of "experimental" to "experiment" in
reference to EDRs.
Modified the DDR SIS to incorporate updates for new and retired products.
