Non-Standard Practices
The PDS standards do not specify where to store the required MD5 checksum
file for a volume. We have placed it in the root directory of the volume
with the file name "CHECKSUMS.TXT". This may be considered invalid by some
verifiers.
Users are encouraged to provide comments back to the Planetary Plasma
Interactions (PPI) Node of the PDS if errors or omissions are found
either in data or in documentation. Please send comments by e-mail or

Cumulative errata for this archive volume:
This file, ERRATA.TXT, contains release notes and errata concerning the
MESSENGER EPPS CDR archive.
During the course of the MESSENGER mission the EPPS science team may update
previously released data products or documentation; for example, updates may
occur due to changes in calibration data or procedures. Updates may be
reported in this file.
Section A of this file contains an entry for each MESSENGER release with
general information about the contents of the release, in order from newest
to oldest. Updates to previously released files are reported in these
entries, along with any known errata.
Section B of this file contains general notes, if any, concerning the archive
as a whole.

1. No EPPS data were collected during the Venus 1 Flyby phase.
2. All FIPS CDR products were redelivered, except those for which the FIPS
instrument was not in its nominal orbit configuration. The nominal orbit
configuration was generally used during orbit operations and during portions
of the cruise. CDRs from when FIPS was not in its nominal orbit configuration
are final as of release 14 are not included in release 15.
3. This is the final release for this volume which includes a complete
redelivery of all calibrated data products, except as described above. These
have been reprocessed using the final SPICE parameters and all final
calibrations and corrections, as applicable.

1. Previously delivered FIPS CDRs were regenerated for this release to apply
an extensive revision of FIPS efficiencies. These efficiencies incorporate
in-flight from the orbital mission as well as ground calibration data. This
release represents a significant improvement in the calibration of these CDR
values.
The regenerated products include FIPP_P(PHAs) from 2011084 - 2014076 and
FIPS_R(Rates) from 2011082 - 2014076

1. Multiple versions (*V1.TAB AND *V2.TAB) of FIPS CDRs both been delivered
to PDS in Delivery 6. This was a mistake. In all cases where V1 and V2 files
for the same product exist, the V2 files supersede the V1 files. The V1 files
should be removed from the archive or disregarded.
2. FIPS CDRs from 2009 DOY 293 - 2010 DOY 041 which have a filename of
*V2.TAB are redelivered to PDS. These were created due to additional data
being downloaded from the SSR.
3. FIPS and EPS CDRs from 2011-DOY 063 to DOY137 are redelivered to PDS. They
have *V2 in the filename. PRODUCT_VERSION_ID in the associated labels
indicate V2. These files are new versions generated to fix the Mercury Local
Time values.
4. The updated PRODUCT_CREATION_TIMES for FIPS CDRs prior to 2009 DOY 293
should be disregarded. They was due to a software design which tied CDR
regeneration to directory structure. This has been fixed for future releases.
