Voyager 1 Saturn POS Ephemeris Heliographic Coords Browse 96 Second Data Bundle Readme Introduction ============ This document contains information pertaining to the Voyager 1 Saturn POS Ephemeris Heliographic Coords Browse 96 Second Data Bundle, which consists of Voyager 1 Saturn encounter ephemeris data in Heliographic coordinates covering the period 1980-11-10T00:00:34.923 to 1980-11-20T23:58:59.065. Two versions, both covering the same time period, but containing slightly different data, are provided. One version was generated by the Voyager MAG team from Voyager 1 SEDR, the other by the PDS/PPI node using the VG1_SAT.TSP and PCK00006.TPC SPICE kernels. (Note: These SPICE kernels are not currently archived in PDS, but they are available from NASA's Navigation and Ancillary Information Facility (NAIF), https://naif.jpl.nasa.gov/naif/index.html) Due to inaccuracies in Voyager SEDR, as well as changes in the values of some key parameters (e.g. Saturn radius) the timing is improved for the SPICE generated data. However, since much of the original analysis was based upon the SEDR generated ephemeris, this data has been included as well. This bundle is organized into several collections, including data_sedr, data_spice and document. PDS4 documentation is all XML. There is an XML label for every product in the archive. Every effort has been made to insure that the data are of the best quality available. However, users are encouraged to verify the correctness of the data prior to submitting any publications or other work based on these data and report any issues to PDS/PPI. This is a PDS4 archive of the following PDS data set: VG1-S-POS-4-SUMM-HGCOORDS-96SEC-V1.0 (https://doi.org/10.17189/1519924) These data were originally archived under PDS3 in the VG_1601 volume. Under the PDS3 standard all archives were self contained and could in principle be stored in a single file system (disk, CD-ROM, etc.). PDS4 takes advantage of network capabilities that allow archives to be distributed. As a result, some of the documents and meta data previously stored in the PDS3 catalog files are no longer maintained locally, but are maintained in a central repository. Those files are referenced by unique PDS logical identifiers that are included in the document collection inventory.
