Mars Global Surveyor Gravity Anomaly Browse Collection ======================================================= browse (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:browse) This collection contains Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) derived radio science browse plots for the gravity anomalies in the various gravity field model maps. These data cover 1997-09-12T00:00:00-2000-02-29T12:05:00. Mars Global Surveyor Ancillary Data Collection ============================================== data-anc (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-anc) This collection contains summary information for each Mars Global Surveyor radio occultation data acquisition opportunity for 1998-01-24 - 2003-11-06 from the ODR and RSR files. MGS Derived Electron Density Profiles Data Collection ===================================================== data-eds (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-eds) This collection contains ionospheric electron density profiles derived from occultation data collected between 1998-12-24T03:47:00 and 2005-06-09T23:52:00. Latitudes ranged from 64S to 69S, while solar zenith angle decreased from 87 to 78 degrees. MGS Derived Line of Sight Acceleration Profiles Data Collection =============================================================== data-los (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-los) This collection includes line-of-sight acceleration profiles derived at JPL from radio tracking data collected near periapsis while Mars Global Surveyor was in its Science Phasing Orbit and below its nominal Mapping altitude of 400 km. The line-of-sight acceleration profiles are derived from single arcs of radio tracking data. Doppler residuals with respect to the spherical harmonic model (JGM75A01) are spline-fitted; the splines are then differentiated analytically to obtain accelerations. These data cover 1998-03-28T13:56:56.870 to 1998-09-23T02:35:24.679. MGS Derived Radio Occultation Measurements Data Collection ========================================================== data-maps (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-maps) This collection contains Mars Global Survery (MGS) Radio Science Digital Map files of image representations for gravity anamoly models. These files contain gridded representations of gravity anomalies with respect to an evaluation of the specified model to certain degrees and orders. The data in this collection cover 1997-09-12T00:00:00Z - 2002-05-27T23:59:59Z. MGS Derived Spherical Harmonic Model ASCII Data Collection ========================================================== data-sha (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-sha) This collection contains coefficients and related data for Spherical Harmonic models (such as gravity fields or topography) of Mars. Input data are from radio tracking of the Mars Global Surveyor spacecraft. Coordinate system is IAU 1991 unless specified. The data cover 1997-09-12T00:00:00Z to 2004-12-05T14:00:00.000Z. MGS Derived Spherical Harmonics Gravity Binary Data Collection ============================================================== data-shb (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-sha) This collection contains formal error covariance and related data for the MGS75(A-E) and MGS85F Spherical Harmonic Model of the Mars gravity field. These data cover 1997-09-12 to 2001-08-14. MGS Derived High Gain Antenna Pointing Data Collection ====================================================== data-sra (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-sra) This collection summarizes high-gain antenna (HGA) pointing for Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) bistatic radar (BSR) observations. For highly oblique BSR, the results may also apply to the accompanying atmospheric occultation. The HGA unit vector and offset angles from the desired pointing direction as a function of time. These data cover 1999-05-07T00:42:00Z to 2001-03-31T17:12:00Z. MGS Derived Surface Reflection Geometry Data Collection =============================================== data-sra (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-srg) This collection summarizes observing surface refelction geometry for Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) bistatic radar (BSR) observations. The results apply to both atmospheric occultations and surface scattering, typically at one second intervals. The spacecraft-surface-Earth geometry is derived from an SPK (NAIF spacecraft and planetary ephemeris) file for 1999-03-09T18:26:35Z - 2001-03-31T17:12:00Z. MGS Derived Surface Reflection Image Data Collection =============================================== data-sra (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-sri) This collection contains a 2-D array in image format showing power vs frequency and time near a Mars Global Surveyor radio occultation. A nominal image is made from 300 512-point power spectra where the spacing between spectra is 0.2048 s and the frequency spanned is 2500 Hz (4.88 Hz resolution). Images show the spacecraft carrier emerging from occultation (egress) or disappearing as the spacecraft goes behind the limb (ingress). Near the occultation time there may be a weak surface echo racing away from the carrier to lower frequencies (egress) or coming in from higher frequencies to merge with the carrier at occultation (ingress). These data cover 1999-03-09T18:26:35Z - 2001-03-31T17:12:00Z MGS Derived Surface Reflection Tabular Data Collection =============================================== data-srt (urn:nasa:pds:mgs-rss:data-srt) This collections contains measurements of surface echoes obtained in the course of Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) radio occultation observations for 1999-03-09T18:26:35Z - 2001-03-31T17:12:00Z. This is a PDS4 archive of the following PDS3 data sets: MGS-M-RSS-5-EDS-V1.0 (https://doi.org/10.17189/1519756) MGS-M-RSS-5-SDP-V1.0 (https://doi.org/10.17189/1519757). These collections were originally archived under PDS3 in the following volumes MORS_1001 - MORS_1037_38 and MORS_1102. Under the PDS3 standard all archives were self contained and could in principle be stored in a single file system (disk, CD-ROM, etc.). PDS4 takes advantage of network capabilities that allow archives to be distributed. As a result, some of the documents and metadata previously stored in the PDS3 catalog files are not maintained locally, but are maintained in a central repository. Those files referenced by unique PDS logical identifiers that are included in the document collection inventory. Errata ====== An errata file has been included in the document collection. Known and additio issues are and will be noted in this file. Contacts ======== This bundle was produced for the Planetary Data System (PDS) at the Planetary Plasma Interactions (PPI) node.
