Introduction

This is a PDS4 archive of the dataset MESSENGER EPPS status data            
associated with the MESSENGER EPPS EPS Raw Data Bundle, and the 
MESSENGER EPPS FIPS Raw Data Bundle. These data were originally 
archived under PDS3 in MESS-E/V/H/SW-EPPS-2-EPS-RAWDATA-V2.0 and 
MESS-E/V/H/SW-EPPS-2-FIPS-RAWDATA-V2.0 data sets.
                                                                            
Under PDS4 this bundle is organized into two collections, including     
data-long-status, and data-status. A document collection contains 
documents relevant to the data. PDS4 metadata are in XML format. There 
is an XML label for every product in the archive.                                                     
                                                                            
Under the PDS3 standard all archives were self contained and could in       
principal be stored in a single file system (disk, CD-ROM, etc.). PDS4 takes
advantage of the modern network capabilities that allow archives to be      
distributed.  As a result, some of the documents and meta data previously   
stored in the PDS3 catalog files are no longer maintained locally, but are  
maintained in a central repository. Those files are referenced by PDS unique
identifiers.                                                                
                                                                            
This bundle is intended for the use of scientists and students in the       
study of the of the planet Mercury. The data may be used for research       
and publication.                                                            
                                                                            
The data in this bundle have completed PDS peer review and have been 
certified. Nevertheless, users are encouraged to verify the correctness of 
the data prior to submitting any publications or other work based on these 
data. Errors on this bundle should be reported back to the PPI Node of the 
PDS (please see contact information below). The PDS and the Planetary Plasma 
Interactions (PPI) Node in particular, assume no legal liability for errors
