PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 1998-05-01 NOTE = "SOFTINFO.TXT describes the contents of this directory." END_OBJECT = TEXT END This directory contains software for use with some or all of the data contained on this CD. Software is in a directory named for the platform for software designed to work. Please refer to the tree diagram below for information on the structure and content of /SOFTWARE directory and its sub-directories. Note that all software contained on this CD is designed to run 'in place.' That is it should work correctly when run from the CD. /SOFTWARE directory tree structure: [SOFTWARE] | |- SOFTINFO.TXT (this file) describes contents of the /SOFTWARE | directory tree | |- [DOS] software developed for use on IBM/DOS platforms. | This includes PWS16PC, software developed to plot | and analyze the PWS data contained on this volume. | |- [SOURCE] source code provided for some of the software | contained on this volume | |- [MIDAS] source code for the MIDAS software | |- [EXE] MIDAS executables for non-IBM/Windows platforms: | MIDAS.EXE (IBM/DOS version), and MMIDAS (Macintosh | version). This includes NASAView, which may be used to view PDS labeled data files as text; and SPLASH, which may be used to view PDS labeled data files as a line plot. Software description: Name Description DOS/PWS16PC displays 4 second PWS data on IBM/DOS platforms. For additional information please refer to the 'PWS16PC Users guide,' available at /SOFTWARE/DOS/PWS16PC.TXT and /DOCUMENT/SOFTDOCS/PWS16PC.ASC. This software was developed and provided by the PWS Team at the University of Iowa. This software is provided 'as is' without warranty of any kind. PDS disclaims any implied warranty. WIN/WMIDAS creates a variety of plots of the PRA data contained on this volume on various platforms. This software was developed and provided by the PRA team. This software is provided 'as is' without warranty of any kind. PDS disclaims any implied warranty. WIN95/NASAVIEW a display tool which may be used with this volume to view PDS labeled tables, or time series as ASCII tables. This software may also be used with PDS qube or image data (neither of which are included on this volume). NASAView was developed at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, an operating division of the California Institute of Technology and is available for use by the public without need of a license. To obtain information on new releases of this software, or have yourself added to the NASAView distribution list, contact the PDS Central Node at JPL (as described below). Please refer to the file WIN95/NASAVIEW.TXT for Copyright and licensing information. WIN95/SPLASH plots PDS Version 3.2 labeled data files (for use on IBM/Windows95 and IBM/WindowsNT platforms). The version of SPLASH that was available at the time of the production of this CD was unable to correctly resolve ARRAY, and CONTAINTER objects and repeated ITEMS. As a result, some files or columns may not plot correctly for the following data: LECP Sectored, ephemeris SEDR (both HG and S3), PRA Browse, PWS 48S and 4S. For information on new versions of SPLASH, please contact the PDS Operator at the PDS/PPI node (see contact information below). This software was developed at the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics at UCLA. In addition to the software contained on this CD, the following sources have software designed to work with some of the data contained on this CD: The PDS has produced a number of general purpose software tools designed for use with PDS labeled files. This software is distributed by the PDS Central Node. For more information, or to obtain this software, contact the PDS Home Page website (http://pds.jpl.nasa.gov), and select the 'PDS Data and Services' link. The NAIF Toolkit, designed for use with the SPICE kernels, is available through the PDS Navigation and Ancillary Information Facility (NAIF) Node. For additional information on the Toolkit or how to obtain it please contact Chuck Acton (INTERNET: cacton@spice.jpl.nasa.gov, DECNET: NAIF::CACTON, PHONE: (818) 354-3869) or check the PDS website's link to the NAIF node for current NAIF contact information. Finally, the PDS/PPI node is aware of software, either under development or already available, which may be used with some or all of the data found on this volume. This includes software for performing coordinate transformations between various Jovian coordinate systems as well as generating additional ephemeris in these systems.
