PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2001-08-01 NOTE = "This file describes the contents of this directory." END_OBJECT = TEXT END This directory contains the ASCII 'transfer' version of the NAIF SPK kernel for Ulysses mission through the Jupiter flyby (ULY92106.XSP) as well as leapseconds (LEAPSEC.LSK) and planetary constants (PCONST.PCK) kernels. Each of these files is accompanied by a PDS label which briefly describes the data files contents. SPICE SPK kernels allow computation of the position and velocity (the state vector) of any one of the 'bodies' described relative to any of the others. The state returned can be geometric (no corrections) or corrected for light time and/or stellar aberration. The state vector is returned in any of a number of inertial or body fixed reference frames, as selected by the user; examples are B1950, J2000 and IAU_JUPITER (System III). These kernels were provided to PDS/PPI by NAIF. In addition to providing SPICE kernels, NAIF maintains software which may be used to manipulate the data (including performing coordinate transformations) contained in the kernels. This software is known as the NAIF Toolkit. A general overview of the SPICE system (SPICE.TXT) is provided in the DOCUMENT directory. For more information regarding SPICE or obtaining the NAIF Toolkit, please the PDS/NAIF node or check the PDS website's (http://pds.jpl.nasa.gov) link to the NAIF node for current NAIF contact information. As of the date of publication of this volume, no spacecraft orientation data were available.
