PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 DATA_SET_ID = "ULY-D-UDDS-5-DUST-V3.1" RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2014-05-01 NOTE = "ERRATA.TXT reflects any changes or errors made to this volume." END_OBJECT = TEXT END Non-Standard Practices The PDS standards do not specify where to store the required MD5 checksum file for a volume. We have placed it in the root dircetory of the volume with the file name "CHECKSUMS.TXT". This may be considered invalid by some verifiers. ASCII versions of documents have '.TXT' extensions, which is a variance from the PDS standards, that expect '.ASC'. ERRATA DUST DATA timetag inconsistent The DDS (Dust) data set is curated by the Small Bodies Node (dust subnode) of the PDS, not the PPI Node. This data set has undergone a full PDS peer review separate from the rest of the data on this volume. These data contain timetags that do not have the same format as the other data sets on this volume. Sine these data have completed peer review and been accepted into the PDS archive, it would be improper to modify the timetag to conform with the rest of this volume. The dust data are included on this volume for completeness. They are not necessary a Jupiter data set. The dust data span the time period from Launch through 1997. The previous version of this volume continaed dust data only through 1992. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- /DOCUMENT/*/*.ASC and /DOCUMENT/*/*.HTM Copies of previously published documents found on the /DOCUMENT/ sub- directories contain some known misspellings. These may either result from misspellings that follow the original documents or else errors introduced in the transmission of these documents to ASCII and HTML format. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Viewability of /DOCUMENT/*/*.GIF files The viewability of some of these images may depend significantly upon the operating system and the viewer used to view them. Specifically, they are best viewed on a color monitor. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- PDS labels in /DOCUMENT/* All of the document labels have been updated/corrected to describe ASCII files as RECORD_TYPE = STREAM rather than VARIABLE_LENGTH. In addition, the RECORD_TYPE of GIF files has been changed to UNDEFINED. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- PDS labels in /DATA/* All of the data file labels have been corrected so that the INSTRUMENT_NAME value is now the full instrument name rather than the instrument ID which is not unique across spacecraft/missions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ASCII data file record formats ASCII data tables contained on this volume are fixed width and space delimited. The PDS Standards recommend using fixed width comma delimited fields in ASCII tables. In general this recommendation was not followed on this volumein order to provide data in the same format in which they were originally provided to the PDS. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SPLASH Software limitations The version of the SPLASH software that was available at the time of the production of this volume was unable to correctly resolve ARRAY, and CONTAINTER objects and repeated ITEMS. As a result, some files or columns may not plot correctly for the following data: COSPIN-AT, EPAC, and URAP. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Superseded versions of this data set are available from the PDS Small Bodies Node at http://sbn.psi.edu/pds/resource/udds.html. Superseded - ULY-D-UDDS-5-DUST-V1.0 This volume contains the Ulysses Dust Detector data taken through Dec. 30, 1992. These data sets were reviewed under the Dust Subnode of the Small Bodies Node at the University of Arizona on March 6, 1996. Superseded - ULY-D-UDDS-5-DUST-V2.0 Data Set Version 2.0 - Reviewed Mar 9, 1999 Superseded - ULY-D-UDDS-5-DUST-V3.0 Update Review, Tue Nov 10 00:00:00 MST 2009 In 2010 it was discovered that the julian dates provided in the files ulyddust.tab and ulydevnt.tab had been calculated incorrectly from the UT times. The julian dates were recalculated and the data set was incremented from version 3.0 to version 3.1.
