The BROWSE directory contains three systems of files that provide             
a simple method for browsing through the NEAR MAG archive.  These             
systems are designed to be viewable by many WWW browsers.                     
                                                                              
Each of these three systems of files is housed in a subdirectory              
of BROWSE.  The three subdirectories are:                                     
                                                                              
EBF     - contains plots of the data in PDF format, based on data             
          in the Eros Body Fixed (EBF) coordinate system.                     
                                                                              
NSO     - contains plots of the data in PDF format, based on data             
          in the Near Sun Orbital (NSO) coordinate system.                    
                                                                              
PROJECT - contains images in JPEG format, reflecting data from                
          both coordinate systems.  (The files in this subdirectory           
          were received from the NEAR Magnetometer Team by PDS; a few         
          of the non-image files may have been edited by PDS.)                
                                                                              
The structure of each of these subdirectories is more fully explained         
in the INFO.TXT file within each subdirectory.                                
                                                                              
The PDF plots are scaled so as to remove data spikes due to propulsion        
events and similar sources.  Some plots may appear to be scaled               
incorrectly; this is because the data contains large changes due to           
calibration events or other unusual occurrences within the data.

This disk also contains Splash plots, which the user can view and modify      
using the Splash software on this disk.  These features of the CD are         
not in the BROWSE directory.  They are discussed in the file                  
EXTRAS/SPLASH/INFO.TXT.
