PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM ^TEXT = "AAREADME.TXT" OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2026-09-29 NOTE = "AAREADME.TXT describes this volume." END_OBJECT = TEXT END Volume JNOJED_3003 Juno JEDI Derived Level 5 Jupiter Data ============================================================================== Brief Volume Description ============================================================================== This data set consists of the JUNO JEDI (Jupiter Energetic-Particle Detector) derived level 5 data. Level 5 data products include calibrated binned quantities derived from Level 3 (CDR) data files. Each Level 5 file contains either Moments or Spectrograms. The data products are generated for each perijove, starting at the time when the instrument(s) transitioned into medium-rate mode and finishing when the instrument(s) transitioned out of high-rate mode. Both Moments and Spectrograms are time-averaged with a cadence of 30 seconds. Data files are stored in the 'DATA' branch of the directory tree. The data are organized into subdirectories by year and perijove (pj**). The data on this volume are ASCII tables. The file extension for the data files is '.TAB'. For the details of file naming or additional information about the processing pipeline please refer to the document Juno JEDI Level5 SIS Addendum. (DOCUMENT/JUNO_JEDI_SIS_LEVEL5_ADDENDUM). Users of these data are encouraged to acknowledge both the PDS and the principal investigators of the instruments whose data are used in analysis in all publications. Please use the CITATION_DESC found in the file CATALOG/JEDI_DDR_DS.CAT for citing this data set. ============================================================================== Volume Set Information ============================================================================== This volume is part of the Juno JEDI volume set. This volume set includes the following volumes: Volume ID Description -------------------------------------------------------- JNOJED_2002 Juno JEDI Uncalibrated (EDR) Jupiter data JNOJED_3002 Juno JEDI Calibrated (CDR) Jupiter data JNOJED_3003 Juno JEDI Derived (Level 5) Jupiter data ============================================================================== Mission Facts ============================================================================== The 'Juno Mission Phases' table below provides a list of mission phases for the Juno mission. It includes the phase start date and phase name. Descriptions of each of these mission phases are provided in the file: CATALOG/MISSION.CAT. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Juno Mission Phases ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start Mission Date Phase ============================================================================== 2011-08-05 Launch 2011-08-08 Inner Cruise 1 2011-10-10 Inner Cruise 2 2013-05-28 Inner Cruise 3 2013-11-05 Quiet Cruise 2016-01-05 Jupiter Approach 2016-07-01 Jupiter Orbital Insertion 2016-07-05 Prime Mission 2021-07-03 Extended Mission ============================================================================== File Formats ============================================================================== The data files on this volume are files are ASCII tables. The data files have detached PDS labels. The PDS label is an ASCII file containing information describing spacecraft, target, and observation parameters characterizing the associated data file. A data set description, instrument description, and other PDS documents are in .CAT files in the /CATALOG directory. In more recent versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system the .CAT by default is reserved as 'Security Catalog.' The .CAT files contained in this volume are ASCII text files, and can be read by any form of text editor. To make Windows open files with this name extension as text files right click the .CAT file, select with and choose a text editor to open the file. Additional documentation is located in the DOCUMENT directory. ============================================================================== Errata ============================================================================== Every effort has been made to assure that the data and documentation are of the best possible quality. However, mistakes are inevitable. There is a file called ERRATA.TXT found at the root level of this volume which contains a list of known deficiencies or caveats associated with data on this volume at the time this volume was produced. ============================================================================== Volume Contents and Structure ============================================================================== This section describes the volume structure and naming conventions. Below is a tree diagram of the volume, followed by a description of the directory function and key files in each directory. JNOJED_3003 (root directory) | |- AAREADME.TXT Describes volume contents, and organization (this file) | |- ERRATA.TXT Describes known deficiencies or caveats in the data on | this volume. | |- VOLDESC.CAT High level description of volume contents. | |- [CATALOG] PDS catalog files containing information describing the | data, instrument, instrument personnel, relevant references, | the spacecraft, and mission. | |- [DATA] Contains the data. The DATA directory is subdivided into | separate subdirectories by year and day of year. | |- [DOCUMENT] Contains documents important to the understanding and use | of the data on this archive volume. | |- [INDEX] Contains a list of all data products on this volume. ============================================================================ Contacts ============================================================================ This volume was produced for the Planetary Data System (PDS) at the Planetary Plamsa Interactions (PPI) node.
