END_OBJECT = TEXT END Cassini Orbiter Magnetometer Magnetic Field Calibrated Full-Resolution Data Archive CO-E_SW_J_S-MAG-3-RDR-FULL-RES-V2.0 Planetary Plasma Interactions Discipline Node of the Planetary Data System 1. Introduction This volume is part of the Cassini Orbiter Magnetometer Calibrated Data volume set. It contains Cassini magnetometer (MAG) full-res. calibrated data covering 1999-08-16 (DOY 228) to 2017-09-15 (DOY 258). The Cassini Orbiter Magnetometer Calibrated Data volume set contains calibrated RDR (Reformatted Experimenter Data Record) magnetic-field data from the Cassini Fluxgate (FGM) and Vector-Helium (VHM) Magnetometers. These data have been calibrated from the raw data, and rotated into geophysical coordinates by the Cassini MAG team at Imperial College. The data are in a variety of coordinate systems depending upon the mission phase as indicated in the table below: mission phase coordinates ------------------ ----------------- all CRUISE phases RTN Earth flyby RTN Jupiter flyby RTN Saturn oribital operations KRTP This volume complies with Planetary Data System (PDS) standards, Version 3.8, described in Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) document JPL D-7669. Some versions of these data were determined to contain timing errors, including both backwards and repeated times. These timing errors have not been corrected in the data files. However, any timing errors that may be present in a data file are noted in the PDS label file that accompanies it. A full list of all files, and intervals containing timing errors is provided at: /DOCUMENT/DATA_QUALITY/FGM_FULL_TIMING_ERRS.CSV. A more detailed description of the timing errors is included in the data set catalog file: /CATALOG/CO_MAG_CAL_FULL_DS.CAT. 2. Volume format This volume is organized into a hierarchical directory structure. It complies with both the Universal Disk Format (UDF) and the ISO 9660 (level 2) file system standards in order to accommodate users on a wide variety of platforms. 3. File formats The data files on this volume are provided as ASCII tables (.TAB file extension). Each data file is accompanied by a detached PDS label file (.LBL extension) which contains information describing the data file and data record format. Document files describing the volume, the data and data-calibration software are included in the volume. These files are provided in PDF, and HTML. Text files and detached label files contain 80-byte fixed-length ASCII records, with a carriage-return character (ASCII 13) in the 79th byte and a line-feed character (ASCII 10) in the 80th byte. This format allows the files to be read by MacOS, DOS, UNIX and VMS operating systems. 4. Volume contents The files on this volume are organized into one Root directory containing several subdirectories. The following table shows the structure and content of these directories. In the table, directory names are enclosed in square brackets, upper-case letters indicate an actual directory or file name, and lower-case letters indicate the general form of a set of directories or file names. Errata While every effort has been made to ensure that the data and documentation are of the best possible quality, the PDS and the Planetary Plasma Interactions (PPI) Node in particular, assume no legal liability for errors on this disk. All users of these data are encouraged to verify the correctness of the data prior to submitting any publications or other work based on these data. Should any user of this product find an error on this volume, please report the error to the PPI Node PDS Operator through the contact information provided below. The file ERRATA.TXT, found at the root level of this volume, contains a list of known deficiencies or caveats associated with data on this volume. An up-to-date version of this file is maintained online at the PDS/PPI node, and may be obtained through the PPI webpages (http:/ppi.pds.nasa.gov/). 6. Contacts This archive volume was produced at the PDS/PPI Node by Joseph Mafi under the direction of Dr. Steven Joy, the PPI Operations Manager.
