PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = FIXED_LENGTH RECORD_BYTES = 80 OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 1999-09-01 NOTE = "Description of contents of DOCUMENT directory " END_OBJECT = TEXT END The DOCUMENT directory contains material that would be useful for better understanding the observations and data products in this archival volume. Because of its volume, the full DOCUMENT directory is included only on the final volume (this volume) of the data set; an abbreviated DOCUMENT directory, providing information on binary formats of certain data files, is included on other volumes. Also of potential interest are files in the CATALOG directory, intended for use in the Planetary Data System central catalog. These files include descriptions of the Voyager mission, the spacecraft and Deep Space Network, the radio science 'instrument', and the data set. Each file in the DOCUMENT directory is an ASCII file. The files are: DOCINFO.TXT This file, providing an overview of the directory contents. CRS80SIS.TXT An abbreviated SIS showing the presumed structure of Univac binary CRS files. This document is primarily of historic significance; a more useful description of formats is in CRSTAPES.TXT. CRSTAPES.TXT A description of CRS binary and ASCII formats, including examples of how to unpack the Univac 6-bit character, 36-bit integer, and 72-bit floating point values. Unpacking should not be necessary for users satisfied with the ASCII versions of the CRS data in the GEOMETRY directory or intending to use SPICE files. MBODRPRC.TXT A table showing the processing schedule for Medium-Band Original Data Record (MBODR) tapes from the Voyager 1 Titan and Saturn encounters. OP1S_TXT.LBL PDS label file defining the Radio Science Operations Handbook for the Voyager 1 Saturn (and Titan) encounters. The document itself includes a text component (OP1S_TXT.ASC) and 59 figures (PostScript files with names of the form OP1SFmnn.PS, where m is the section and nn the figure number). OP1S_TXT.ASC See OP1S_TXT.LBL OP1SFmnn.PS See OP1S_TXT.LBL RSC_11_5.TXT The Software Interface Specification defining the format for binary POCA files. This document describes the format of VG1TPOC1.DAT in the CALIB directory. RSC_11_6.TXT The Software Interface Specification defining formats for binary open-loop data files. This document describes the format of the raw radio science data from this set of occultation measurements (all of the raw data files in the ODR directory). TAPELIST.TXT A short document describing the naming convention for ODR tapes. The document also includes a table showing times, frequencies, and polarizations covered by each tape. This document should be very helpful to users wishing to process only selected portions of the data set. TCI10TXT.LBL PDS label file defining a DSN document which describes the DSN 64-meter network capabilities (antennas, transmitters, and receivers). The document itself includes a text component (TCI10TXT.ASC) and 2 figures (PostScript files with names of the form TCI10_Fn.PS, where n is the figure number). TCI10TXT.ASC See TCI10TXT.LBL TCI10_Fn.PS See TCI10TXT.LBL TIMELINE.TXT Table A-2 from OP1S_TXT.ASC, listing important radio science events and activities during the titan encounter. TK_DESCR.TXT Document describing the structure and contents of the current version of the NAIF SPICE toolkit (for Sun/Solaris). TK_FTP.TXT Document containing instructions for obtaining the NAIF Toolkit software via Internet. This document points to other documentation on Toolkit organization and use. TK_INSTL.TXT NAIF Toolkit Installation Instructions for the Sun/Solaris system. Structure, contents, and installation for other platforms will be similar; see TK_FTP.TXT for information on obtaining other versions. USOFREQS.TXT Document summarizing knowledge of USO frequencies at giant planet encounters.
