PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2002-08-20 NOTE = "This file describes the Voyager 2 Ephemeris data available on this DVD-R volume." END_OBJECT = TEXT END This directory contains the 48 second and 96 second res. Voyager 2 ephemeris data in both Heliographic coordinates (RTN) and System III (1965) left handed coordinates. For each coordinate system, two versions covering the same time period, but containing slightly different data, are provided. One version was generated by the Voyager MAG team from the Voyager 2 SEDR and the other by the PDS/PPI node using the Voyager 2 SPICE. The SPICE trajectory data provid improved timing information. The data were collected from the Jupiter encounter covering the period 1979-06-20 to 1979-08-18 for data in RTN and 1979-07-05 to 1979-08-12, for System III. The data are stored as 4 ASCII tables, each covering about two weeks of data having a PDS label file (.LBL) which describes properties of the data. The geometry information provided on this DVD-R volume only includes the SPICE SPK file (containing spacecraft and target body ephemeris). As of the date of publication of this volume, no spacecraft orientation data were available. The PDS/NAIF node is in the process of restoring spacecraft orientation information for the SPICE pointing kernel (C-kernel). NAIF plans to make this kernel available in a future archive. For information regard the availability of the Voyager 2 SPICE C-kernel, please contact Chuck Acton (INTERNET: cacton@spice.jpl.nasa.gov, DECNET: NAIF::CACTON, PHONE: (818) 354-3869) or check the PDS website's link to the NAIF node for current NAIF contact information. The PDS/PPI node is in the process of preparing a data set that will contain the spacecraft orientation information relevant to PRA and other Voyager instruments for which spacecraft orientation is important. This data set will be archived in a future volume. For information regarding the availability of this data set, please contact PDS Operator at the PDS/PPI node (INTERNET: pds_operator@igpp.ucla.edu, PHONE: (310) 206-6073).
