============================================================================ ============================================================================ ============================================================================ ERRATA for PDS Disk VG_1001 (Neptune Fields and Particles) ============================================================================ All problems described in this document have been corrected in the on-line versions of the datasets. If you wish to obtain a replacement file(s) for any of the datasets which have known problems, please contact PDS_OPERATOR (pds_operator@igpp.ucla.edu, pdsppi::pds_operator, (310) 206-6073). If you find any errors with this disk which are not described in this document, please report your findings to PDS_OPERATOR. ============================================================================ ============================================================================ ============================================================================ Error in the /DATA/MAG/NLS/12M directory. The error occurs in the labels and not in the data itself. Old Name New Name Short Long Short Long --------------- --------------- Bt Tangential Mag Component Btheta Theta Mag Component Bn Normal Mag Component Bphi Phi Mag Component This error is found in the following files: INFO.TXT, MAGDATA.FMT, T890824.DES, T890825.DES ============================================================================ Error in the /DATA/POS/HG/48S directory. The error occurs in the Labels and Descriptor (.DES) files describing the data files T890825-T890828. The "SC_lon" and "SC_lat" column descriptions are reversed (i.e. the label describes a latitude column as being a longitude column and visa-versa). In addition, both of these types of label files give the units of latitude and longitude as degrees where they should be units of radians for all of the data files T890822-T890828. ============================================================================== Error in /DATA/PWS/WAVEFORM/60MS/INDEX.TAB & /DATA/PWS/WAVEFORM/60MS/C11XXXXX/C1139028.LBL 1. /DATA/PWS/WAVEFORM/60MS/INDEX.TAB has an incorrect SCET for C1139028.DAT. The correct SCET should be 1989-237T04:04:47.313. 2. /DATA/PWS/WAVEFORM/60MS/C11XXXXX/C1139028.LBL has an incorrect START_TIME. The correct START_TIME should be 1989-237T04:04:47.313. ============================================================================= Errors in /DATA/PWS/SA/4S Repeat records occur after 23:59:58 in all data files. Data are valid until the error occurs. The first affected record contains all zero's except for the time columns. The "ctime" column has a negative value and the "pdstime" column contains the string "Invalid time value ". Subsequent records are repeats of earliar records. PDS label files associated with this data are not PDS version 3 labels like those on the rest of the disk. These are PDS version 1 labels which reflect the state of PDS labels at the time these data were originally submitted to PDS. Version 3 labels are available to interested users. The data files originally submitted to PDS by the Voyager Plasma Wave team at Iowa did not conform to current PDS naming conventions at the time this CD was released. Data, catalog, and label file names were changed to conform with current naming conventions. However, the contents of the label files were not altered to reflect the new file names. The file IOWADESC.CAT was submitted as VOLDESC.SFD. This file refers to all data files in this directory by using the naming convention PW289xxx.DAT where xxx is the day of year. Actual data files conform to the naming convention PWS89xxx.DAT. Files which provide the data column descriptions and file structure are referred to as ".LBL" files. These files now have the extension ".FMT". All individual data file labels (PWS89xxx.LBL) properly reference the data file which they describe. However, they all contain pointers to the following catalog files. DS_CATALOG_POINTER_ID = 'PW2NS4C.TAB' INST_CATALOG-POINTER_ID = 'PWSVG2C.TAB' The contents of these files was appended to the IOWADESC.CAT file and these files are not in this directory. The format file VGRPWSCL.FMT refers to the first object in VGRPWSCL.TAB as a header. This object does not exist in VGRPWSCL.TAB and therefore should be ignored from the format file. The only object in VGRPWSCL.FMT is the CAL_TABLE. =============================================================================== Errors in /DATA/PWS/SA/48S/IOWA There are no known errors in the data files. As in the /DATA/PWS/SA/4S/IOWA data area, file names have been changed since the original data submission. The file IOWADESC.CAT refers to itself as VOLDESC.SFD. The PDS labels found in this directory are not PDS version 3 labels. They are the PDS version 1 labels that were originally submitted to PDS. Version 3 labels are available to interested users. =============================================================================== Errors in /MANAGE The files in this directory are not data files but data management files used by the PPI data management and analysis software to access and extract data from this disk. Any user who wishes to use PPI software with this disk should obtain new files from the PPI Node at UCLA. =============================================================================== Errors in /CATALOG/LECP The file DATASET.CAT contains an error in the REFERENCE object. Where STANLEY. M. KRIMIGIS is referenced as AUTHOR_FULL_NAME should instead be S. (TOM) KRIMIGIS. Our sincerest apologies Dr. Krimigis.
