PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2014-09-11 NOTE = "AAREADME.TXT describes this volume." END_OBJECT = TEXT END Voyagers 1 and 2 Plasma Instrument Solar Wind data Planetary Plasma Interactions Discipline Node of the Planetary Data System 1. Introduction This volume contains Voyager 1 and 2 PLS solar wind data. This consists of full resolution data and hourly and daily averages. This volume is still in development and has not been fully documented or peer-reviewed. Use with caution. This volume complies with Planetary Data System (PDS) standards, Version 3.6, described in Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) document JPL D-7669. 2. Volume format The disk is organized into a hierarchical directory structure. The disk contains both the Universal Disk Format (UDF) and the ISO 9660 (level 2) file system standards in order to accommodate users on a wide variety of platforms. 3. File formats The data files on this volume are provided as ASCII text files with detached labels (.LBL) and detached format files (.FMT). Document files describing the data are included in the volume. These files are given in ASCII formats. Text files and detached label files contain 80-byte fixed-length ASCII records, with a carriage-return character (ASCII 13) in the 79th byte and a line-feed character (ASCII 10) in the 80th byte. This format allows the files to be read by MacOS, DOS, UNIX and VMS operating systems. 4. Volume contents The files on this volume are organised into one Root directory containing several subdirectories. The following table shows the structure and content of these directories. In the table, directory names are enclosed in square brackets, upper-case letters indicate an actual directory or file name, and lower-case letters indicate the general form of a set of directories or file names. Errata Every effort has been made to ensure that the data and documentation are of the best possible quality. However, mistakes are inevitable. The PPI Node of the PDS will maintain an online list of ERRATA where errors and updates are documented. Should any user of this product find an error on this volume, please report the error to the PPI Node so that the finding can be made public. All users are encouraged to verify the correctness of the data prior to submitting any publications or other work based on these data. If you find an error on this disk, please report the error to the PDS Operator at the PPI Node of the PDS.
