END_OBJECT = TEXT END Pioneer 10 and 11 Jupiter Encounter Fields and Particles Data Sets Planetary Data System ============================================================================= Introduction ============================================================================= This volume contains data taken by the Pioneer 10 and 11 fields and particles data from the Jupiter flybys. Data from the following instruments are included: Charged Particle Instrument (CPI), Cosmic Ray Telescope (CRT), Geiger Tube Telescope (GTT), Helium Vector Magnetometer (HVM), Flux-Gate Magnetometer (FGM), Plasma Analyzer (PA), Plasma Science Instrument (PLS), Trapped Radiation Detector (TRD), and Ultraviolet Photometer (UV), plus spacecraft trajectory. The data are located in the /PIONEER10 and /PIONEER11 sub-directories. Data files are stored either in ASCII (.TAB file extension), or IEEE binary (.DAT file extension) formats. The contents of each data file (including file info, and structure) is described by a detached PDS label file (*.LBL). The files DATASET.TXT and INFO.TXT provide additional information about data set and directory contents. The exception to this rule is the FGM data which are also provided in ASCII format (.TXT file extension), but which contain file and column header information embedded in the data file. Many of the data sets on this volume have not been peer-reviewed or lack sufficent documentation. Please use with caution. ============================================================================= Contacts ============================================================================= The person most directly responsible for the construction and release of this CD-ROM is Mr. Steven Joy, the PPI Node Data Administrator at the time this disk was created.
