Geometry Files

in the 2001 Mars Odyssey MARIE Archive

Overview

In addition to the MARIE datasets, this disk contains geometry files describing the spacecraft's trajectory, the MARIE instrument, and the planet Mars. These include kernel files, which can be used in the processing and interpretation of geometry data.

Links to Geometry Files

Geometry data reside in the GEOMETRY directory and its subdirectories. The principal files in the GEOMETRY directory are:

• ODY_TRAJ_01.TAB, an ASCII table containing Mars Odyssey trajectory data in various Mars centered coordinate systems
• MARS_IAU2000_V0.TPC, a SPICE kernel containing planetary constant data for Mars
• M01_MARIE_V10.TI, a SPICE kernel containing instrument information about the MARIE instrument.

Along with each of these files there is a PDS label file describing the file contents:

• ODY_TRAJ_01.LBL (Describes ODY_TRAJ_01.TAB and its table columns)
• MARS_IAU2000_V0.LBL (Describes MARS_IAU2000_V0.TPC)
• M01_MARIE_V10.LBL (Describes M01_MARIE_V10.TI)

The NAIF node of the Planetary Data System (PDS) maintains an archive of SPICE kernel files, which contain ancillary geometry data for planetary missions.
