END_OBJECT = TEXT END BROWSE/PROJECT Directory Contents The PROJECT subdirectory of the BROWSE directory contains a system of images and related files that provides a simple method for browsing through the NEAR MAG archive. The images are in JPEG format. The system is designed to be viewable by many WWW browsers. The PROJECT directory has a structure identical to the DATA directory on this CD. Each subdirectory contains plots of NEAR MAG data in NEAR Sun Orbital (NSO) and Eros Body Fixed (EBF) coordinate systems. NEAR Sun Orbital (NSO) coordinates are Cartesian coordinates defined with respect to the NEAR-Sun line and the orbit plane of Eros. The X-axis points from NEAR to the Sun, the Z direction is given by the Eros velocity vector crossed into X, northward normal to the Eros orbital plane, and Y completes the right-handed set. Eros Body Fixed (EBF) coordinate system has its Z-axis along the Eros spin axis, the X-axis is in the Eros equatorial plane, and lies in the direction of the prime meridian. The Y-axis completes the right-handed set. Data used for the plots are the same as those provided in ASCII format in this data set. Spacecraft position relative to Sun is indicated at the top by radial distance and solar ecliptic longitude and latitude. NEAR position relative to Eros is shown in two ways. In the top panel, NEAR location relative to Eros is shown by Clock Angle and Excursion Angle. In the bottom two panels, NEAR location relative to Eros is indicated by longitude, latitude, and distance, defined in EBF coordinates. The PROJECT directory also contains the file MANIFEST.TAB, which contains a list of files that make up the set of browseable files located in PROJECT. Files named INDEX.HTM under PROJECT are parts of this set, and the file INDEX.LBL is the PDS label file for INDEX.HTM. The system of images in PROJECT was provided by the NEAR instrument team to PDS. Other browse products, produced from the data by PDS, can be found in other subdirectories of the BROWSE directory.
