PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2006-07-05 NOTE = "Description of the INDEX directory contents for this NEAR MAG archive volume." END_OBJECT = TEXT END INDEX Directory Contents The INDEX directory contains tabular index files, accompanied by detached PDS labels, for the data products on this volume. It also contains cumulative index tables if this volume is a member of a multi-volume dataset. The cumulative index table is for products on this volume and on other NEAR MAG archive volumes. The following files are found in this directory. INDXINFO.TXT - The file you are reading. INDEX.TAB - Index table for data files on this volume only. INDEX.LBL - PDS label for INDEX.TAB. CUMINDEX.TAB* - Cumulative index table for data files on this volume and on previous MAG archive volumes in the sequence. CUMINDEX.LBL* - PDS label for CUMINDEX.TAB. MANIFEST.TAB - A table of all the files on the volume. MANIFEST.LBL - PDS label for MANIFEST.TAB. CUMMANIF.TAB* - A cumulative version of MANIFEST.TAB for this volume and previous volumes in the sequence. CUMMANIF.LBL* - PDS label for CUMMANIF.TAB. CHECKSUM.TXT - A list of MD5 checksums for all files in this volume. CHECKSUM.LBL - A detached PDS label for CHECKSUM.TXT. (*) = This file is only present on this volume if it is one of a multi-volume dataset (for example, NMEROS_2001, NMEROS_2002, and NMEROS_2003). Notes on Using the Index Tables An index table contains one row (record) for each data product it describes. The table is formatted so that it can be read directly into many data management systems. All fields are separated by commas, and character fields are enclosed in double quotation marks ("). Character fields are left justified, and numeric fields are right justified. Each record ends with ASCII carriage return and line feed characters. This allows the table to be treated as a fixed length record file on computers that support this file type and as a normal text file on other computers. The file with extension ".LBL" and the same name as an index table is a PDS label file that describes the content and structure of the fields in the index table. This description includes the name of each field, its format, and a brief definition.
