PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2003-08-20 NOTE = "Description of the INDEX directory contents for this disk." END_OBJECT = TEXT END INDEX Directory Contents The INDEX directory contains tabular index files, accompanied by detached PDS labels, intended for database use. The following files are found in this directory. INDXINFO.TXT - The file you are reading. INDEX.TAB - Index table for data files on this volume. MAG_IDX.TAB - Index table for MAG related data files on this volume. ER3D_IDX.TAB - Index table for ER 3D related data files on this volume. ERHR_IDX.TAB - Index table for ER high-resolution related data files on this volume. ERLR_IDX.TAB - Index table for ER low-resolution related data files on this volume. CUMINDEX.TAB - Cumulative index table for all data files on all volumes in this volume series. MANIFEST.TAB - Manifest table for all files on this volume. CUMMANIF.TAB - Cumulative manifest table for all files on all volumes in this volume series. *.LBL files - Detached PDS label files for the TAB files listed above (for example, INDEX.LBL for INDEX.TAB). INDEX.FMT - PDS format file describing the structure of the index tables. Notes on Using the Index Tables The index and cumulative index tables in this directory contain at least one row (record) for each Lunar Prospector MAG/ER data product on the present disk. Most of the index tables contain records for data products on this volume. The CUMINDEX.TAB file is a cumulative index for data products on all previous volumes in the series and on the present volume. All tables are formatted so that they can be read directly into many data management systems or spreadsheet programs. All fields are separated by commas, and character fields are enclosed in double quotation marks ("). Character fields are left justified, and numeric fields are right justified. Each record ends with ASCII carriage return and line feed characters. This allows the table to be treated as a fixed length record file on computers that support this file type and as a normal text file on other computers. Each index file has a PDS label file that describes the content and structure of the fields in the table, including field name, format, and description. The values for start byte and number of bytes listed in the label file do not include commas between fields or quotation marks surrounding character fields. The manifest files (MANIFEST.TAB and CUMMANIF.TAB) are like index files, but they list every file on the disk instead of just the MAG/ER data files.
