PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2003-08-19 NOTE = "INFO.TXT describes the Electron Reflectometer (ER) low-resolution time series data available on this volume." END_OBJECT = TEXT END The DATA/ER_LO_TS directory contains the Electron Reflectometer (ER) low-resolution (~80 sec) time series data for all 15 energy channels. The bin centers for these energy channels are given in the file E_BINS.TAB. The time series data files reside in subdirectories containing data from single months; the names of these subdirectories indicate the month and year of the data (for example, JAN_1998). The file naming convention for files in the one-month subdirectories of the DATA/ER_LO_TS directory is as follows: EL980116.TAB is interpreted as EL = 'ER low-resolution data' 98 = year 1998 01 = first month (January) 16 = sixteenth day of month TAB = 'table' format EL980116.LBL is the name of the PDS label file which describes the data file EL980116.TAB. The ER low-resolution data are provided as ASCII tables of 1 day duration. Fluxes are provided for 15 energy bins (~40ev - ~20keV) collected over 16 spacecraft rotations (~80 sec). The electron reflectometer samples 4 pi steradians twice each spin period. Each row of data contains 16 columns (a time and 15 fluxes). Each row is terminated by the ASCII record delimiter characters carriage return and line feed. The directory ER_LO_TS also holds a file E_BINS.TAB, which is an ASCII table containing energy bin center values for the data. Each row in this file consists of two equivalent time items (time in seconds since Jan 1, 1970 and time in standard PDS format), followed by 15 energy bin center values. The time items represent the time at which the bin center values took effect. Note that the bin centers for the data in ER_LO_TS need not be the same as those for the data in DATA/ER_HI_TS. E_BINS.LBL is a detached PDS label for E_BINS.TAB. In addition to the data files, this disk contains documentation files which describe the datasets on the disk, the instruments from which the data came, and the Lunar Prospector spacecraft and mission. These files are found in the CATALOG and DOCUMENT directories, and are described in the files CATALOG/CATINFO.TXT and DOCUMENT/DOCINFO.TXT. Of particular interest to users of the ER low-resolution data is the dataset catalog file CATALOG/ERLRTSDS.CAT. This disk also contains browse plots (in GIF87A format) summarizing the Magnetometer (MAG) and Electron Reflectometer (ER) data on the disk. These plots are contained in the BROWSE directory. In addition to accessing the ER low-resolution data files directly, users with Web browsers can access them via links in the HTML file ERLRDATA.HTM in the EXTRAS directory, and can navigate the entire disk using the file AAREADME.HTM in the disk root directory.
