There were two major planned real time activities in C09C, the AACS and CDS INS Flight Software patches. The purpose of the patches was to automate onboard the spacecraft the control of the despun bay heaters so as to protect the CDS in Bay A from thermal cycles should the INS go off. There was an additional CDS flight software patch to the RRCC code following an anomaly (ISA 10797) which occurred during the second observation recorded during cruise (C9NSFLTFLD01) in C09B. Although normal playback operations were restored in C09B with a temporary fix, this patch is a permanent solution to the problem. Finally, there was a DMS continuous search anomaly during the playback of the 7th observation recorded during cruise (RDC #7). The final ENDSEG before RDC #7 had a timetag which was in the future. Commands were sent to terminate playback, reposition the DMS to playback some PPR data which had been lost previously, and then reposition the tape for RDC #7.
